1. THE BOWL FULL TAPAS BAR
This exciting tapas bar can be found in the centre of Lincoln, with plenty of yummy authentic Spanish dishes on offer.
The restaurant is right next to the West Common on West Parade, so it’s super easy to find and not too far away from The University of Lincoln either, perfect if you want quick bite after lectures.
Owners Karl and Anne-Marie have created a super homely venue with Mediterranean vibes, creating the perfect backdrop for some tasty tapas.
The prices are really reasonable, so you won’t need to break the bank when visiting here, which is always a bonus!
We’d urge you to try the calamari, deep fried with crunchy flour and breadcrumb batter, and the paella stuffed red peppers for bags of flavour.
2. CASTLE VIEW INDIAN CUISINE
How about an idyllic castle view whilst nomming on a curry? Castle View Indian Cuisine on Union Road serves up plenty of some moreish Indian cuisine for you to sink your teeth into.
This particular cuisine restaurant and takeaway only opened in 2016, but has quickly established itself as one of the most popular eating spots in Lincoln.
Their menu is absolutely brimming with scrumptious options, you’re pretty much spoilt for choice whatever your food preferences!
For starters, the salmon tikka or the mixed tandoori kebab are a must try, as well as the highly rated chef’s special curries.
If you like sticking with what you know, Castle View Indian Cuisine have a whole menu dedicated to traditional dishes such as the chicken korma or Balti.
3. KINE
Kine came from a love of fresh local produce, sourcing all the best ingredients in and around Lincolnshire.
They started as a burger pop-up using super fresh ingredients, and although their menu is small, it reflects their passion for fresh ingredients and yummy dishes.
Their menu tends to change with the seasons, one week could be different from the next, so your taste-buds are always in for a surprise!
Located in West Parade, sink your teeth into a nice juicy burger with your pals and maybe treat yourself to peanut butter pie for dessert.
As everything is made from fresh, Kine can adapt their menu for vegan’s and vegetarians, all you need to do is ask.
Popular staple menu items include the cheese & bacon burger and the ‘Kine special burger’ featuring aged Lincolnshire beef, candied bacon, Colston bassett stilton and bourbon smoked onions served with rosemary salt or spiced fries, delish!
4. THE CHEESE SOCIETY

Everybody loves a bit of cheese! The Cheese Society on St Martin’s Lane is a cute small 12-seater Cheese Café, serving classic cheese dishes with wine, what’s not to love?
Their scrumptious menu consists of dishes such as double baked cheese souffle, macaroni cheese, baked camembert and plenty of cheese boards to get stuck into!
Everything is prepared and cooked in-house, sourced as locally as possible! If you have any dietary requirements The Cheese Society will do their very best to accommodate.
Along with scrumptious lunches, they also offer morning and afternoon snacky treats of homemade cheese scones and toasted Lincolnshire plumbread!
5. MARGARET’S TEA ROOMS
If you’re in the mood for a nice cuppa, you need to head over to Margaret’s Tea Rooms on Garmston Street, which has been established as the ‘go to’ place for afternoon tea in Lincoln.
Before tackling the infamous Steep Hill, why not grab yourself a nice sweet scone with jam and cream?
Margaret’s Tea Rooms opened in the spring of 2017 and even have their very own special collection of teas called “The Memoirs Tea Collection”.
Fancy a bit of afternoon tea? Go on, treat yourself! Margaret’s Tea Rooms have three different options to choose from, including a lower tier, a middle tier and a top tier consisting with scones, sandwiches, cakes.
Open 10am-5pm everyday other than Wednesday and 11am-4pm on Sunday, Margaret’s Tea Rooms is a must visit when studying in this cute little city.
6. BAILGATE DELI

This vegan and vegetarian café is based in Lincoln’s Insta-worthy Cathedral Quarter, providing a delicious range of coffee, cake, brunch and lunch.
The Deli stocks sourdough and other breads from Wellbeck Bakehouse, plumbread from Welbourn and daily basics like free range eggs.
Bailgate Deli has a straightforward yet delicious menu, with dishes like a full vegan breakfast, poached eggs on toast, mezze and falafels and salad.
This hidden gem is a perfect spot for you and your mates to grab some yummy food, we’d urge you to try the curry which has sterling reviews!

Established in the late 80’s, Browns Pie Shop & Restaurant is a must visit when studying in Lincoln, because everybody loves pie, right?
No 33 Steep Hill is known for Browns Pie Shop, owned by Daniel & Carly Gill, who took over this family business in 2016.
Their menu is absolutely stuffed with tasty treats, whether you fancy À la carte, a set menu, something sweet to tickle your taste buds, or a chef’s special.
As well as pies, Browns Pie shop have plenty of other options on offer to tempt your taste-buds, such as scotched eggs, pate, fishcakes, belly pork, and many more!
The traditional pies are super delicious, whether it’s stuffed with chicken leek & mushroom, cheese, or pork, black pudding and apple, you really are spoilt for choice.
If you’re not a lover of a traditional meaty pie, fear not! Browns Pie Shop have various ‘not a pie’ options, such as portobello mushroom or lightly smoked hake with garlic butter.
8. SHANTI VEGAN
After being established in 2015, Café Shanti is a family run authentic Nepalese and British restaurant located smack bang in the middle of Lincoln.
The café prides itself with providing Lincoln’s residents and visitors with super tasty vegan food.
Popular favourites from the menu include creamy ‘no chicken’ pasta with mushroom, spinach and red pepper sauce, and the famous ‘shanti burger’.
Their homemade aubergine burger includes chickpea, courgette, sweetcorn and red pepper, all served in a toasted bun topping with onion rings filled with avocado.
